Ryan Grasso discovered his gift for music early and began taking drum lessons at the age of five. As the gift turned to passion, Ryan became absorbed in the technical and theoretical nuances of music and spent years perfecting his technical skills. As a teacher, his goal is to help students build strong foundational skills in technique and coordination, while also developing their personal style. This allows his students to become versatile, successful musicians with an aptitude for multiple playing styles and genres. In addition to private lessons, Ryan is currently the drum line director at his high school alma mater, Whippany Park High School. 

Drum students benefit from decades of Ryan’s educational and professional experience. Throughout elementary school, he was the lead drum soloist while also performing in school talent shows. In middle and high school, Ryan played with his schools’ Wind Symphony and Jazz Band, while also performing with his own bands, and writing original songs. By Ryan’s Senior year of high school, he was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, for his superior musicianship and individual creativity. In 2016, Ryan graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Music Industry and Recording Technology, while also being awarded a certificate of outstanding achievement. 

In addition to teaching, Ryan continues to work as a session drummer, as well as an audio and video producer. Featured on the drums of Tura Lura’s full-length album and EP, Ryan also contributed to mixing, mastering, and producing. Ryan also owns and manages DFX Live, a recording, and production studio in Wharton NJ.
